The 7th Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland will be organized this year

The call of G7 is already available for the artists from inland and abroad

In the course of the year 2022 the Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland will take place for the seventh occasion. Beyond raising the professional standards of the contest, it is the declared objective of the organizers that the event expands more and more, remaining an important international forum of contemporary graphic art.  The details of this year’s event were presented at a press conference.

István Imreh, manager of Covasna County Cultural Centre spoke about the plans of this year regarding the event. He highlighted, that the biennial is waiting for the visitors with a renewed design on the website gbiennial.ro. „We are glad that we have managed to come over the difficulties of the 2020 event and we hope that this year we can turn back to the usual, efficient practices of the organization and running of the event. This year’s edition will be extended by new locations too, as Miercurea-Ciuc joined the events of the biennial as partner, thus the core material of the contest will be exposed at the National Museum of Ciuc, where further side events will take place, too. In partnership with the Hungarian University of Fine Arts from Budapest, we would also like to expand the list of short films presenting different procedures and techniques, which were so successful last year among visitors. In this way we would like to bring this genre closer to the general public.” – said István Imreh.

Apor Ferencz S., curator of the biennial presented the thematic and objective of the event.

The main goal of the G7 remains in the future, too, to bring into focus the tendencies of contemporary graphic art and to provide an overall picture of the modern trends and development of printmaking techniques. It should trace and identify, respectively it should point out those interactions, which could bring about the different fusions of traditional and experimental graphic procedures. The changed circumstances, the experience of being constrained make us all reevaluate our vision of the future. Following different strategies, we are seeking for solutions to the unanswered questions of these uncertain times. Accordingly, the organizers of the biennial propose as catchphrase of the Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland of the year 2022 the title Strategies.” – declared Apor Ferencz S..

Beáta Bordás, manager of the Transylvanian Art Centre, said that although she had not taken part in the organization of the biennial before, she was looking forward to the collaboration with great excitement: „We are hosting this event with enthusiasm this year, too. We are going to provide the exhibition rooms both on the ground floor and on the third floor for the presentation of the works in the period between the 7th of October and the 26th of November. We consider that it is important that the awarded works should be added to the collection of EMŰK (Transylvanian Art Centre), furthermore our goal is to go on tour with this material and to present it at other locations as well.” The manager of the Transylvanian Art Centre emphasized, that it is a particular pleasure, that also other cultural institutions have joined the event and that they can work together as partners on this occasion.

Furthermore Apor Ferencz S. related, that after the exhibition of the 7th Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland, the retrospective exhibition of the graphic artist Líviusz Gyulai originating from Erdővidék (microregion from Szeklerland) would take place at EMŰK in Sfântu Gheorghe, as special side event of the series of events of the biennial. At the same time at the National Museum of Ciuc the material of the 2nd Budapest Illustration Festival will be presented.
